Your ways through Cézanne in Madrid

Mountain of Sainte-Victoire
Paul Cézanne is considered to be a predecedor of modern art. The ARTIST, in capitals, who assimilated the concepts of impressionism in order to create the new form of art.
The master from Aix-en-Provence praises the birth of artistic avant-guard even in his earlier periods. Cubism of Picasso, Braque and Vázquez Díaz is a clear reflection of Cézann’s concepts and inspiration that will mark the guidelines for future generations.

Cézanne ´s poetics comes out in his still lives, in the mountain of Sainte-Victoire and the famous four swimmers, immortalized by him. It is his signature manner to use the color for giving the painting a character through limpid brush-strokes. The hand of the French master lets geometric forms, glitter and exaggerated “plein air” acquire a sensation of dance, impossible to overlook.
Exhibition in Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum

Today, after 30 years of absence, Cézanne is back in Spain, in a unique exhibition, honoring the great artist in one of the renowned museums of Madrid. Thanks to the laborious selection of works it lets us follow master’s trajectory, mimicking the landscape of the artist and assimilating the brilliance of the master. From the 4th of February till the 18th of May, the art lovers have a date with the genius of Cvezanne in the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, in Madrid. And to pay the tribute to the master, there is nothing better than to cite his own words:

“The light and shade are color relationships. Pure drawing is an abstraction. The form and the contour of objects is not given by contrasts and the oposites that result from its particular coloring. At the time that you are painting, you are drawing. The adjustment of the tone gives at the same time the light and object’s shape.”

“I believe even less in those who after my death will talk on my behalf or will argue next to my poor cadaver about the worst and the most imperfect of my works. There are always days following the battle and nights that foster jackals and hyenas. If they decide to open a school in my honor, tell them that they have never understood and never loved what I ‘ve done.”
